# Workiva Integration Setup

### Getting Started <a href="#h_01h9kzjybek4temypa6a5ffh7w" id="h_01h9kzjybek4temypa6a5ffh7w"></a>

BalkanID recommends creating a separate service account for the purposes of this integration, instead of using personal or employee named accounts.

#### Requirements: <a href="#h_01hq31hmzdrvcyk70k44ey6dv5" id="h_01hq31hmzdrvcyk70k44ey6dv5"></a>

An API grant in Workiva acts as a specific Workiva user and hence it is recommended to use a grant belonging to an *Organization Admin*.

* ***Client ID -*** The client ID of the Workiva API grant.
* ***Client Secret -*** The client secret generated for the API grant.
* ***Organization ID*** ***-*** The ID of the Workiva organization to extract.
* ***Region Subdomain -*** The subdomain corresponding to the region your Workiva organization lives in: `app` (US), `eu`, `apac`, or `ca`.

#### Getting the Configuration <a href="#h_01h9kzjybeacehzfkaw2cz10mj" id="h_01h9kzjybeacehzfkaw2cz10mj"></a>

An API grant can be created at the organization level or the workspace level. The organization-level grant is recommended. Requires the **Org Security Admin** role.

1. Sign in to *Workiva*, click your name in the lower left, and select *Organization Admin*.
2. Navigate to *Identity & access management*, and select the *Provisioning* tab. Under *Create Identity Provider or API Grant*, click *Add Identity or API* and select *API Grant*.
3. Fill in the grant:
   * Client Name - a name that identifies this grant, e.g. `BalkanID Integration`.
   * Workspace - the workspace the grant is attributed to.
   * Workiva Username - the username of the integration user the grant acts as.
   * Expires - set per your organization's security policy.
   * Scopes - `organization:read` and `file:read`.
   * IP Restrictions - optional.
4. Save the grant. Copy the *Client ID* - this is your *Client ID*
5. The *Client Secret* is visible only to the user the grant belongs to. That user signs in, opens their *user profile*, and regenerates the grant to reveal the secret. Copy it and save it - this is your *Client Secret*. You will enter it within the BalkanID application when prompted.
6. For Organization ID, click your name in the lower left and select *Organization Admin*. In your browser URL, the organization ID is the GUID after `/o/`:

   `https://app.wdesk.com/s/admin/o/`**`371b5fc8-fcc4-404a-9d22-d07d8f46a7e0`**`/...`

   Copy that GUID - this is your *Organization ID*.
7. For Region subdomain, copy this part of your Workiva URL - the subdomain before `.wdesk.com`:

   `https://`**`app`**`.wdesk.com/...`<br>

   <table><thead><tr><th width="295.87890625">Your Workiva URL</th><th>Region Subdomain</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><a href="https://app.wdesk.com/">https://app.wdesk.com</a> (For US)</td><td>app</td></tr><tr><td><a href="https://eu.wdesk.com/">https://eu.wdesk.com</a> (For EU)</td><td>eu</td></tr><tr><td><a href="https://apac.wdesk.com/">https://apac.wdesk.com</a> (For APAC)</td><td>apac</td></tr><tr><td><a href="https://ca.wdesk.com/">https://ca.wdesk.com</a> (For CA)</td><td>ca</td></tr></tbody></table>

### Configure integration within your BalkanID tenant <a href="#h_01h9kzjybf182sj7n8mrydhrdt" id="h_01h9kzjybf182sj7n8mrydhrdt"></a>

1. Login to the BalkanID application and switch to the tenant you would like to add your integration to.
2. Head to *Integrations* > **Add Integration**, select **Workiva.**

3. Set up the *Primary Application owner (mandatory)* and the *Description*, if any. Set up Secondary Application Owner(s), if any.<br>

   Select the Extraction Type. From here, you can configure your application using one of the following methods:

   1. **Direct integration** - Provide your Client ID, Client Secret, Organization ID and Region Subdomain obtained above to set up a direct connection with BalkanID.
   2. **SCIM integration** - Provide SCIM server credentials to set up a SCIM connection with BalkanID.
   3. **Manual file upload** - Upload Entity and Entity Relations through a .CSV file upload. Contact the team for assistance with this.<br>

      <div data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://2975852473-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FbVGYwk8aSk5yI1GDPEW9%2Fuploads%2F9RYQGCxFzZixllnVnGDz%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=378512af-9ac3-46d2-ad01-d52a21a27e5c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
4. Click on next to move onto *Optional Configuration.*
5. Fill **Optional configuration,** if required.

6. Once you filled in the information, click **Save**. Your integration is now configured and you will see the status of the integration displayed alongside other integrations on the *Integrations* page. When data is available, the integration Status will read **Connected** and the integration Message will read **Data available**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.balkan.id/getting-started/setting-up-your-tenant/application-integrations/direct-application-integrations/workiva-integration-setup.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
